Rorschach
Brand:
Penzora
Serial:
1359
Theme:
DC
Biography:
Walter Joseph Kovacs, known as Rorschach, is a vigilante appearing in the film Watchmen. He is characterized by his rigid moral absolutism and brutal methods of fighting crime.
Born to a sex worker, Kovacs endured a difficult childhood marked by neglect and abuse. This early trauma heavily shaped his worldview, leading him to view the world in stark black and white terms, with no room for moral ambiguity.
Rorschach's costume features a mask with an ever-shifting inkblot pattern, designed to resemble the psychological Rorschach test, which he sees as reflecting the wearer's true nature. The inkblots are symmetrical and constantly changing.
After the Keene Act outlawed masked vigilantes, Rorschach continued his crusade in secret. His investigation into the murder of Edward Blake (The Comedian) drives the plot of the film, leading him to uncover a vast conspiracy.
In the film's climax, Rorschach is killed by Doctor Manhattan to prevent him from exposing the truth about Ozymandias's plan, which involved the mass murder of millions to avert nuclear war.
